Top 300 Songs of the 2000s, #40 - 31

Kelis: Bringing all the boys to the blog.

It listens to the next ten, or else it gets the hose again... ... ... ... what? But seriously, I'm not afraid to use the hose. Right now we're going to try and look on the bright side, losing ourselves in the music while we run after concrete to see what brings all the boys to the yard. Those are just some really (not) hard to figure out clues as to what songs are coming up next...

#40 - Best of You (2005)
by Foo Fighters

Has someone taken your faith? It's real,
The pain you feel, You trust, you must, confess...

Just one of the reasons why I'll always be excited to hear something new from the Foo Fighters. Plus the video... how could you hate? One of my favourites and a video that I feel is often overlooked and highly, highly underrated.

#39 - Dirty Jeans (2000)
by Magic Dirt

You're an ordinary boy and,
That's the way I like it...

#38 - Mr. Brightside (2003)
by The Killers

But she's touching his chest now,
He takes off her dress now, let me go...

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Hot Fuss was made up of some fantastic singles. Songs like 'Mr Brightside,' 'Somebody Told Me' and one more song that we're yet to see on the countdown. Can The Killers go all the way to #1?

#37 - Milkshake (2003)
by Kelis

Damn right it's better than yours,
I can teach you, but I have to charge...

She's not really singing about milkshakes you know. Doesn't that just blow your mind?

#36 - Lose Yourself (2002)
by Eminem

Snap back to reality,
Oh there goes gravity...

That's 'Academy Award winning artist' Eminem, as 'Lose Yourself' would become the first rap single to win Best Original Song at the Oscars for the film 8 Mile. Much like The Killers, Eminem has one more great song left to place... is it good enough to take #1?

#35 - Chasing Pavements (2008)
by Adele

I've made up my mind,
No need to think it over...

She's topping charts worldwide with her new album, 21, which should really come as no surprise. If the songs on it are even a fraction as good as Grammy winning 'Chasing Pavements' then it has to be good.

#34 - Such Great Heights (2003)
by The Postal Service

They will see us waving from such great heights,
Come down now, they'll say...

#33 - London Still (2003)
by The Waifs

I took the tube over the Camden, to wander around,
I bought some funky records with that old Motown sound...

A song that many, many people can relate to and one of the greatest songs to come out of Australia in the last decade. The Waifs join Magic Dirt and Augie March in the top 50... there's still 6 Australian acts to come and they are good. Very good.

#32 - Chop Suey (2001)
by System of A Down

I don't think you trust, In my self-righteous suicide,
I cry, when angels deserve to die...

Uh, yeah. This is kinda awesome. Crazy... but awesome. Plus, it's about time a heavier rock song made an impact, yeah?

#31 - Time Is Running Out (2003)
by Muse

I wanted freedom, bound and restricted,
I tried to give you up, but I'm addicted...
