Tenacious D... good at tributes. |
Get ready, 'coz this sh**'s about to get heavy. The 'Dog Days Are Over' and it's 'Murder On The Dancefloor' here on It's My Kind of Scene. Our biggest countdown is about to begin and we'll be spending this month taking a look at the greatest songs from the first decade of the new millennium. It's going to be huge and may result in you going 'Blind,' needing some 'Rehab,' or a session or two with a 'Frontier Psychiatrist.' But don't worry, we'll have you screaming 'Yeah' and saying 'Hey Ya' in no time. So, 'What You Waiting For?' Let's get to it... the Top 300 Songs of the 2000s!!!
#300 - Tribute (2002)
by Tenacious D
This is the greatest and best song in the world... tribute.
If only it had actually been 'the greatest song in the world', it could have been so much higher. Still, as far as comedy songs go... this was awesome.
#299 - Carry On (2002)
by Motor Ace
Is it real, does it give too much away?
#298 - Get Free (2002)
by The Vines
She never loved me, why should anyone?
The immediate impact from 'Get Free' was massive, setting The Vines up as the greatest thing to happen to rock in like... ever. Unfortunately they wouldn't quite live up to the hype after their debut and Craig Nicholls would spend some time making sheep noises at his audience. Nice.
#297 - I'll Kill Her (2007)
by Soko
So we would have had a boy called Tom,
So we would have had a boy called Tom,
And a girl called Susan... born in Japan.
#296 - NYC Beat (2007)
by Armand Van Helden
Up town, Down town,
Turn the beat around town...
#295 - Where's Your Head At? (2001)
by Basement Jaxx
Don't let the walls cave in on you...
"Qua?!" you say. 'Where's Your Head At' might be the song that made them stars, but I really don't feel like it's held up too well over the years. Agree? Disagree?
#294 - Otherside (2000)
by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Centuries are what it meant to me,
A cemetery where I marry the sea.
#293 - Gone (2001)
by Ben Folds
The days go on, the lights go off and on,
And nothing really matters when you're gone.
#292 - I Am Mine (2002)
by Pearl Jam
I know I was born and I know that I'll die,
The inbetween is mine...
Pearl Jam did very well for themselves in the Top 200 Songs of the 1990s countdown. But that was a grunge band in their prime. Do they stand as good a chance on the Top 300 Songs of the 2000s?
#291 - Plastic Loveless Letter (2003)
by Magic Dirt
There's not enough hours in my day,
To tell you that you're getting in the way...
Ten down, 290 to go. What do you think we're going to see? What do you think we're NOT going to see? Check back regularly because there's plenty more to come!
