Top 111 Songs of 2011, #90 - 81

Will Dr. Dre ever release Detox?

As you'll notice is now tradition, before we get to our next ten songs you have the pleasure of perusing the tracks that have charted on the countdown so far;

111. Clare Maguire - Ain't Nobody
110. Ball Park Music - It's Nice To Be Alive
109. The Strokes - Under Cover of Darkness
108. Coldplay ft. Rihanna - Princess of China
107. Coldplay - Paradise
106. Jennifer Lopez ft. Pitbull - On The Floor
105. Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks
104. Professor Green ft. Emeli Sande - Read All About It

#90 - How Deep Is Your Love
by The Rapture

Give me what I need to live,
Help me come to you.

#89 - Santa Fe
by Beirut

And whatever comes through the door,
I'll see it face to face, all by your place.

Beirut becomes the first act to land two tracks on the countdown with 'Santa Fe.' It comes complete with one of the weirdest videos I've seen all year, but we won't hold that against them. The song's so good, you forget you're even watching the video!

#88 - W.O.W (Invisible Version)
by Architecture in Helsinki ft. Sally Seltmann

Hey you, where's your blood? Where are your bones?
How come you're invisible?

Sally Seltmann is a witch. How do I know this? She makes magic happen. Evidence to support wild and crazy accusation? Her contributions to Seeker Lover Keeper, fantastic body of solo work and her ability to make an Architecture in Helsinki song even more memorable. Case closed. Architecture in Helsinki and Seltmann will both be popping up later in the countdown too... go awesome Australian music!

#87 - The Last Living Rose
by PJ Harvey

Goddamn Europeans!
Take me back to beautiful England.

#86 - Heaven
by Emeli Sande

Oh heaven, oh heaven, I wait with good intentions,
But the day it always lasts too long.

When your debut single has people drawing comparisons between your work and Massive Attack's and the feedback is positive, you know you're off to a good start. Emeli Sande emerged in 2011 as one of the breakout acts of the year and is sure to have a very bright future ahead of her.

#85 - Will Do
by TV On the Radio

But anytime will do, my love,
Anytime will do...

#84 - I Need A Doctor
by Dr. Dre ft. Eminem and Skylar Grey

I'm about to lose my mind,
You've been gone for so long, I'm running out of time...

Is Dre ever going to release Detox? It was meant to be one of the greatest releases of 2011. Instead we got the mediocre single 'Kush' and the amazingly good 'I Need A Doctor.' The problem is, was it good because of Dre? In hindsight, I think I was more drawn to the vocals from Skylar Grey and Eminem's on-the-money verses. Apparently Detox is currently in the mixing stage, says a most trusted source (Wikipedia), but at this point I don't think I could stand another 'Chinese Democracy.' Could you? As for Skylar Grey; it seemed like 2011 would be your year. What happened? Here's hoping we hear a lot more of her voice in 2012.

#83 - Feeding Line
by Boy and Bear

But I'm finding it harder to reason in order to grow,
And finding it hard is a feeling that all of you know...

Boy and Bear, Australia's biggest national success of 2011. Fresh off their clean-up at the ARIA Awards it looks like they have a huge amount of momentum in the lead up to voting for next year's Hottest 100 on Triple J. Could 'Feeding Line' top the world's largest fan-voted radio music countdown? No. But it will do well.

#82 - You Don't Want To Dance With Me
by Monarchy ft. Britt Love

I have got to keep my distance,
The pounding of my heart can't be disguised.

#81 - I Feel Better
by Gotye

You'll feel better, you'll feel better,
Better than before...

Ok, so Boy and Bear might not be Australia's biggest national success of the year...

Look for the next ten songs later in the week kids! Any guesses as to what songs are still to come?
