Merry Hipster-mas! Hipsmas?

Cool sweater, Flowers! So hip right now...

If your mum (or mom, whatever) and dad play that Michael Buble or Mariah Carey Christmas CD one more time, you're contemplating going postal. Since that's not the best idea and definitely not in the spirit of the holidays, why not try hijacking the sound system and playing these nifty numbers instead. In the tradition of Hipster Halloween, we're going Hipster Xmas! Because saying Christmas just isn't hip... not that I'd know. Or would I? Anyway, here's some hipsters turning Christmas music into almost tolerable junk you'll still hate because these remain Xmas songs. Stop being so hip!

Don't Shoot Me Santa
by The Killers

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... maybe this wasn't such a good idea. All I'm going to say is, those are some mighty hip looking holiday sweaters the boys are sporting there.

Jinglebell Rock
by Arcade Fire

Yep. These are the guys that won Album of the Year at this year's Grammys. I just... It's all so... What in the... I got nothing.

Winter Wonderland
by Radiohead

Thom Yorke is that one family member we all have that shows up sloshed, eats all the food, makes out with the Christmas tree and then sings karaoke. Yes indeed. We've all got one of those.

Christmas at the Zoo
by The Flaming Lips

Trust Wayne Coyne to save this crummy collection of tunes. WAAAAAYNE! Now this is a fine piece of deliciously hip Christmas music. Alright, I'll stop with the joke tracks and keep the hits coming.

Fairytale of New York
by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl

A beloved classic that has stood the test of time, becoming a yearly highlight for the United Kingdom and a Christmas favourite around the world. There's even a jig in it that you can do your hipster bop to.

I'll Be Home For Christmas
by She and Him

Zooey Deschanel's voice is so good. It's got a mesmerising effect going for it. In fact, it's so mesmerising you... wait. What did you say I can do to you? OH! You said I can COUNT on you. My apologies, for that is definitely not what I thought you were saying I could do to you. Let's not talk about this ever again.

Santa Stole My Lady
by Fitz and the Tantrums

I don't believe this for a second. Santa would never cheat on Mrs. Clause. This is slander... SLANDER I TELL YOU!! But the song's great, no?

Last Christmas
by Florence + The Machine

Is there anything she can't do? I mean, this isn't as good as Hilary Duff's version, but it's alright I suppose. Kidding!

Christmas In Harlem
by Kanye West

"I'm like bad santa though. You might have to sit on my lap." No. Just... no. Besides that vomit inducing line, this is the best in hipster-hop Christmas music you're likely to find.

Extraordinary Merry Christmas
by Glee

What do you mean Glee isn't considers hipster music?! But... the title of this song isn't nearly half as dumb as some of the hipster bands out there. Les Savy Fav? Foster the People? Chumbawumba? What do you mean Chumbawumba aren't considered a hipster band?! That's it, this list is over!!!

Anyway, hope you crazy kids have an awesome, safe, fun and hip (!) Christmas! If you're not into Christmas, happy whatever it is that you are into!
