Laneway 2014
RNA Showgrounds, Brisbane (31/01/2014)
Reviewed through the wonders of text messaging
by Jo Michelmore, Matt Bond and Katie Langley
If there's a music festival going on, chances are, there's a lot of bands you want to see and a lot of bands you don't want to see. If there's a music festival going on, chances are there's a lot of punters you may enjoy seeing there and probably a lot of punters you wished you didn't see there. If there's a music festival on, chances are there's a big line up for food, toilets, beverages and...well, that's something you don't want to see or experience anywhere.
Yet again, another music festival, this time St Jeromes Laneway (who is St Jerome anyway? Patron saint of bad clothes? Patron saint of expensive drinks? Patron saint of annoyance? Patron saint of incredible music? Let's go with the last one...) Jo braved the crowds, the line ups and the punters in Brisbane, and as usual, kept Matt and Katie up to date on her adventures via text message, up to a point. You just can't account for technology failure. So, while Adelaide and Perth are still to experience the magic of Laneway 2014, let us welcome you to another edition of the music festival, reviewed the way we do it best, via text...

Silly Lorde? Silly iphone. It was at this point that technology failed us. For the first time since the very first text review all those years ago now, the iphone lost all battery and therefore, all chances to text review were stopped. If the messages continued, there would have been mentions of
- the drunken giant at Cloud Control
- the incredibly bad dancing at Warpaint
- the sweet sounds of The Jezebels
- the lack of pants during Danny Brown
- the sequined pants during Run The Jewels and
- the lack of interest in the surrounding sweat and lack of shirts at Earl Sweatshirt
Alas, the iphone disappointed and you don't get to read any of that, or the 'hilarious' messages that would have replied. Instead, let us leave you with the way so many of the text conversations between K-Tizz and Jo end, which describes so much about every music festival, really. They're all about this:
Fist. Pizza. Make of that what you will.
