After a stellar 2013 for dreamy Australian indie-pop with releases from the likes of Cloud Control, Snakadaktal and San Cisco, I was thinking 2014 might be a bit of a let down for the genre. I Know Leopard have (thankfully) proved me wrong quite early in the year with the release of 'Hold This Tight', the follow-up to last year's 'She'.
Hailing from Adelaide and now based in Sydney, the five-membered I Know Leopard are quickly establishing themselves as crafty music makers that grab your attention with smoother than smooth and ever so relaxing melodies, catchy hooks and snappy lyrics. 'Hold This Tight' is an example of all that and more. Frontman, Luke O'Loughlin's voice really grabs your attention and after one listen you pretty much know this is a track that's going to score a ton of repeated plays throughout the year.
"Hold this tight, never let go, never let go, no never let go." I'm trying to be less pun-tacular in 2014, so I'll leave witty lines about holding on tight to I Know Leopard and never letting them go to your imagination. Their upcoming 2014 EP, Illumina is set to be one of the year's best.
