Nancy Sinatra: She will walk all over you. And you will like it.

No. No I haven't forgotten that we're down to the two most important posts of our 60s countdown. Also, I'm not drawing it out, leaving you hanging to build suspense. It's just been a big week and I've been dealing with some business (pronounced bid-ness). All fears, concerns and general feelings of anxiousness can now disappear because the countdown is back! We're up to the penultimate edition, so you know it's going to be good... very good. Here are ten songs that narrowly missed out on making the top 10 song of the 1960s.

#20 - I Wanna Be Your Dog (1969)

Much like the 80s ended by ushering in the era of 90s grunge, a reaction to overproduced 80s trash, the 60s ended with the birth of punk, rock music's defining sub-genre of the 1970s which itself could be viewed as a direct response to the sugary, sweet bubblegum pop of the 60s and it's delicious naivety. Leading music in this exciting new direction as the decade came to a close was the iconic Iggy Pop with The Stooges. Before imploding they were producing music that no one had dared to do. Music like 'I Wanna Be Your Dog.'

#19 - Foxy Lady (1967)

Not only is 'Foxy Lady' the most effortlessly cool song of the 60s, it was used in Wayne's World. That makes it an automatic winner in my eyes. Memorizing Garth's dance was one of the best things I've ever done.

#18 - Paint It, Black (1966)

Useless fact of the day: 'Paint It, Black' was the first song that featured a sitar to top the charts in the UK and the USA. Thanks, Wikipedia!

#17 - Dazed and Confused (1969)

Just like Iggy and The Stooges, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page were moving rock in a much heavier sounding direction with classic songs like 'Dazed and Confused.'

#16 - These Boots Are Made For Walkin' (1966)

The video would have been considered porn in the 60s, right? Sinatra's far-out dancing, the world's shortest dresses, aerobics Nancy-style and the girls putting the 'swing' in the swinging sixties makes this video equal parts hilarious and amazing. Oh and the perfect compliment for one of the greatest songs of the decade. If only J Simps hadn't tainted it.

#15 - Crying (1961)

Admittedly, I much prefer Orbison's duet of 'Crying' with K.D. Lang. Still, performed solo it remains a brilliant piece of songwriting and Orbison's best work. You wish you could hit high-notes like he does.

I'll require you to really appreciate the effort I went to in finding the music to post here... it's nearly impossible! You'd think after its inclusion on The Boat That Rocked soundtrack it would be everywhere.
