Antony & The Johnsons are set to release the Thank You For Your Love EP at the end of the month before the release of their fourth studio album, Swanlights, due in October. I'm not one to praise the ground that Antony Hegarty walks on, if I'm being honest I find his songs to be very hit or miss, but I'm probably not smart enough to 'get' them or something. Still, Hegarty's voice is insanely good so it's always nice to see him & the Johnsons putting out some new material. 'Thank You For Your Love' is pretty good and is being marketed as the lead single for Swanlights. I found two other tracks to be of a much better quality, 'My Lord My Love' and the groups cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine.'
If you're unfamiliar with Antony & The Johnsons, you may remember their song 'Bird Gerhl' which was featured in the film V For Vendetta. Evey puts it on the jukebox. I'll try and find it on youTube. 'Bird Gerhl' was on the Mercury Music Prize winning album, I Am A Bird Now. If Swanlights is even half as good as that album then we're in for a treat.
