Indie country goodness from Brisbane, Australia. That's Texas Tea's short story, but there's a whole lot more to the duo of Kate Jacobson and Benjamin Dougherty and with the release of their new single 'Heart Says Yes (Head Says No),' I can guarantee you'll be finding out all there is to know about Texas Tea soon enough.


'Heart Says Yes (Head Says No)' is a two-and-half-minute step back in time as Jacobson and Dougherty draw inspiration from the 1950s and 60s to create a modern indie gem. There aren't words to describe how happy Jacobson's voice makes me. She could very well be Australian music's best kept secret. Benjamin Dougherty's no slouch in the vocal department either. He takes the lead on 'I Don't Write No Sad Songs' the first single from upcoming third album Sad Summer Hits (expected October release). That track proves to be just as memorable for very different reasons. Dougherty's bluesy voice anchors the piece alongside a harsher country/rock blend, building up to a pretty epic conclusion.




If you're going to be around Brisbane next weekend, Texas Tea are pulling double duty on Friday night playing two free shows! You can catch them at Jet Black Records in West End at 6:30pm and later at The Black Bear Lodge from 8:00pm in the Valley. Black Bear always has a good crowd so I know where I'll be seeing them.
