#6 - Your Favourite Music Moments In Film

That's right, kiddies... we are off to the movies today! Our voyage of music listography continues and this entry will definitely go down as one of my favourites. Movies that successfully manage to incorporate a perfect, complimentary soundtrack into the film are the bestest. Now, this isn't a list of my favourite soundtracks. That's going to come a little further down the line (waaaay down the line). This is all about the song and the scene working together to create movie magic. Some are funny, some are sad, some are ridiculous and some will have you going, "lay off the crack." Whatever... all are amazing. Enjoy!

Spoiler Warning: If you haven't seen any of these movies, it's probably best not to watch the clips. Consider yourself warned.

Your Favourite Music Moments In Film

Almost Famous - Tiny Dancer

I'm sure you didn't see this one coming. After celebrating the party of the century ("I am a golden God... and I'm on drugs!"), Stillwater, the band-aids and young William repair their damaged relationships by joining in on the most amazing sing-along in film. Brilliant.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - Hoist the Colours

As a massive fan of the Pirates series, I couldn't resist giving this little ditty its due. Keira Knightley singing the second verse in the next scene is also a nice touch.

V for Vendetta - Cry Me A River/Bird Gerhl

You can throw Cat Power's cover of 'I Found A Reason' in as well, as V laments never dancing to any of the songs on his jukebox. His reason is found in Evey as the two eventually dance to Antony and the Johnsons 'Bird Gerhl.' For a revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

Fight Club - Where Is My Mind?

What. Just. Happened? Consider your mind blown... with thanks to The Pixies.

Magnolia - Wise Up

Aimee Mann should have won an Academy Award for 'Wise Up.' Instead, she settled with a nomination for the almost as amazing, 'Save Me.' The 'Wise Up' scene from Magnolia is bizarre, surreal and ultimately perfect moment in a perfect film. In the context of the film, this is heartbreaking stuff.

Wayne's World - Foxy Lady

So what if I learned the whole dance? I will never stop loving this...

High Fidelity - Most of the Time

Again, you had to see High Fidelity making an appearance. A music movie about lists making a music blog's list of best music moments in film. It's like life imitating art or the other way around or something. I'm confused. Anyway, John Cusack in the rain (familiar territory) makes me enjoy Bob Dylan. That's one of the few things that can make me enjoy Bob Dylan.

The Royal Tenenbaums - These Days

I had almost forgotten how much I love this movie. Margot is such a badass.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Why Don't You Do Right?

Why has the Roger Rabbit concept never been revisited?

Intense! Tarantino always works amazing music into his films... this might just be his best music moment.

Other awesome moments: Tank Girl - 'Roads.' Once - 'Falling Slowly.' The Lion King - 'Be Prepared.' Jackie Brown - 'Across 110th Street.' Moulin Rouge - 'Come What May (Finale).'
