Song of the Day - The Hardest Button to Button

It's going to be ok Meg... don't cry!

White Stripes - The Hardest Button to Button
Album: Elephant (2003)

I'm sure you've heard the sad news by now... The White Stripes have disbanded. One of the greatest bands the 2000s has offered, gone. Melodramatic? Yes. But they really were quite the good. Is this really the last we'll see of Jack and Meg White? Not likely, since Jack is in a million other quality bands and Meg will find something to do (hopefully not involving singing). Anyway, I look forward to the reunion tour in 2024.

Top 300 Songs of the 2000s, #290 - 281

Mike Skinner aka The Streets.

It's the second installment of our biggest countdown yet! In the first edition we heard sweet music from industry heavyweights like Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Basement Jaxx. What's in store for today's edition? Let's find out...

#290 - A Sorta Fairytale (2002)
by Tori Amos

Things you said that day, up on the 101,
The girl had come undone, I tried to downplay it...

Song of the Day - Come Back

Foo Fighters - Come Back
Album: One by One (2002)

Dave Grohl & Co. have announced that the Foo Fighters' new untitled album will be released April 12! I'll admit, I never really got into their last album, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace, but I'm still excited to hear some new music from one of the best rock bands in, um, ever. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks we'll hear the official first single for the album! What do you think, do the Foo Fighters have the potential to have the comeback of the year?

Top 300 Songs of the 2000s, #300 - 291

Tenacious D... good at tributes.

Get ready, 'coz this sh**'s about to get heavy. The 'Dog Days Are Over' and it's 'Murder On The Dancefloor' here on It's My Kind of Scene. Our biggest countdown is about to begin and we'll be spending this month taking a look at the greatest songs from the first decade of the new millennium. It's going to be huge and may result in you going 'Blind,' needing some 'Rehab,' or a session or two with a 'Frontier Psychiatrist.' But don't worry, we'll have you screaming 'Yeah' and saying 'Hey Ya' in no time. So, 'What You Waiting For?' Let's get to it... the Top 300 Songs of the 2000s!!!

Song of the Day - Say Hello Wave Goodbye

David Gray - Say Hello Wave Goodbye
Album: White Ladder (1998)

Excellent song? Yes. Will it place on the Top 300 Songs of the 2000s? No. Mostly because it was released in the 90s. Anyway, I've tried my hardest to keep covers out of the countdown, even covers as good as 'Say Hello Wave Goodbye;' David Gray's excellent rendition of the Soft Cell song. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it today... and enjoy it you shall! It's 9 minutes of pure awesome sadness in song form that kinda puts the Soft Cell original to shame.

Song of the Day - Lose Control

Missy Elliott ft. Ciara and Fatman Scoop - Lose Control
Album: The Cookbook (2005)

It's a new month and there's so much to look forward to this February on It's My Kind of Scene. Coming very soon we're going to be doing a super-sized countdown; the Top 300 Songs of the 2000s... our biggest countdown yet! February is also the month of corporate love, with Valentine's Day only a couple of weeks away. What does that mean? A very special Valentine's Day playlist. Duh. We'll also be bringing the Report Card feature back, with a focus on artists that have been declared musical royalty over the past couple of decades. Any guesses as to who we'll be looking at?

Now, if that's not enough to make you lose control, perhaps Missy Elliott can push you over the edge. 'Lose Control' was one of her biggest hits throughout the 2000s, but is it good enough to be named one of the best of the decade? Unfortunately no, but if a song this good didn't make it on the list... Stick around kids, it's going to be a huge month!
