Where Music + Design Connect

BIGSOUND Music+Design
When: 10/11 September, 2013
Where: Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

BIGSOUND is already regarded as one of Australia's finest music gatherings, with exciting live music showcases and conference speakers. In 2013, the BIGSOUND experience is getting bigger and better by ushering in the inaugural Music+Design component. Over two days, music makers and music fans alike can listen to and learn from worldwide leaders in the design field.

Music+Design is where music and design connect. The program explores the intersection of music and all modes of design - interactive, graphic design, digital, industrial design, architecture, production, fashion, and film. Music+Design welcomes the international design community to Brisbane, offering an unprecedented opportunity for a range of design disciplines to come together and discuss current developments influencing their industry, seen through the lens of music.

Need some tips on how to create an awesome music video? Head on over to 'Video Makes the YouTube Star' on the 11th. Who better to learn from than someone like MTV VMA nominated director Natasha Pincus ('Somebody That I Used To Know')? There's sessions that cover visual identity, fashion, poster art and a whole lot more, with speakers including an international who's who from the design community. Speakers include...

Nick Cave... Leanne De Souza (artist management)... Lachlan Goold (Magoo)... Patience Hodgson (The Grates)...Quan Yeomans (Regurgitator)... Elliott Wheeler (composer, Executive Producer of The Great Gatsby soundtrack)... Celeste Potter (animation)... Nick Panama (Cantora)... Kirsten Doak (The Lock Group)... John Warwicker (Tomato)... Countdown: Women Who Rock, #16 - Patience Hodgson

#16 - Patience Hodgson

Watching Patience perform on stage is a thing of beauty. She'll bounce around for an entire set, usually in fancy dress (which includes Batgirl, Snow White and the Power Rangers!), and you can't help but take on board her energy and enthusiasm.

But don't let her fun and happy demeanor fool you, the girl can rock. And some of her songs are surprisingly dark, for instance check out 'Feels Like Pain' from The Grates' Gravity Won't Get You High.

Patience has been touring the USA this year promoting the band's second album, Teeth Lost, Hearts Won, and will follow this up with a brand new record sometime in late 2010. Get excited!

Key Tracks: 'Rock Boys,' 'Science is Golden' and 'Inside/Outside' (Gravity Won't Get You High), 'Burn Bridges,' 'Carve Your Name' and 'Two Kinds of Right' (Teeth Lost, Hearts Won).
